Tina's Biography

Hi. I’m Tina.

Some blogs are about a topic. My blog is about self-expression. I’ve always, and still, want to be a “real” writer when I grow up.

I hope everyone buys my novels when I write them. For now, I am getting in the swing of writing daily here in the digital world.

I love the instant feed back. It’s like having a well thought out conversation with everyone who visits my site.

I’ve been married to my beloved husband, Chris, since November 10, 2001.

We have four beautiful cats.

My family moved around when I was a kid, because Dad was in the Navy. I know I wouldn’t be same person had I not grown up that way.

A biographical timeline with geographic details

Dover, NH, birth, August 17th 1980, to three years old.

Mom had lived in Maine and New Hampshire her whole life. She and my father had been married seven years when I was born. They divorced shortly after. Mom met Daddy, a nineteen year old sailor, when he was in Portsmouth for the commissioning of the USS Portsmouth.

New London, CT, three years old.

San Diego, CA, 1984 to kindergarten.

Family joke: the Navy doesn’t do coast to coast moves.

My brother, James III, was born here March 14th, 1985.

I had surgery, a heel cord lengthening surgery, sometime after I started school. My left leg was shorter than my right, my toe pointed in, and I tended to tip-toe. The basic idea is they cut heel cord, so it will grow. I had one of the top pediatric orthopedic surgeons in the country, so it was a new technique at the time: arthroscopic surgery. I was in a cast from my toes to my hip for ages, but I have no scar from it.

Bremerton, WA, kindergarten (three months)

Yes, just three months. Dad’s sub was at Puget Sound Navel Station for refit. As little as Dad was home in those days, when we could all be together it was important to be together.

San Diego, CA, 1st grade

Bremerton, WA, 1st grade (three months)

This time, Dad had Trident school at Bangor Submarine Base.

New London, CT, 1st grade (2nd time)

Between losing school during my surgery and transferring schools, I was behind.

Goshen, CT, 1st grade to 3rd

My second grade year was the first time I spent a whole year in one school. Ms. Grinsey was an amazing teacher. I credit her with building the foundation my academic success.

Bremerton, WA, 3rd grade

The middle part of third grade I was actually bussed from the overcrowded school across the street to another school. It was miserable.

Bangor, WA, 3rd grade to 5th

James started school my fourth grade year.

Eva Beach, HI, 5th grade to 8th

Met Kate in 6th grade.

Silverdale, WA, 8th grade to 10th

Met Renee when I transferred into Ridgetop Junior High in October.

Kent, WA, 10th grade to 7/01

We moved to Kent when Dad got out of the Navy.

I graduated from Kent-Meridian High School, June ’99. With the exception of being published in the lit magazine, my high school career is otherwise unremarkable. Let’s just say, I’m not a joiner.

Met Chris August 27, 1999.

Got our first apartment February 2000.

Sheridan, NY, 7/01 to 7/05

Chris moved home to the Buffalo area April ’01. I followed in July.

Married November 10th 2001.

Eddie, Cubby, and Otis came home, October 2003

Farmington, MO, since 9/05

We moved here to be near Kate and Sabrina.

I do not know how long we’ll be here, for now we’re here and that has to be enough.

Becca has come up with a fine topic to fulfill my list making needs once again this week. Her weekly meme is Give Me Five Monday. This week's theme is Give Me Five vacation destinations you've already enjoyed or would like to someday.Since I have written about places I have lived and places I have visited, today I will be devoting my list to places I have never been, but would love to visit. While I am not adverse to decadent fun, don't expect my dream trip to involve a week in a Vegas hotel. For anyone planning ...

Your Linguistic Profile: 55% General American English 30% Yankee 5% Dixie 5% Upper Midwestern 0% Midwestern What Kind of American English Do You Speak? One quick glance at my biography reveals a lifetime of near nomadic migration. I can't blame Dad's Navy career anymore. My last two relocations were as an adult, just hubby and I. My mother would be a bit disappointed by my 30% Yankee score. Both sides of my family have been in Maine for generations. As Mom is fond of saying, when the United States celebrated ...

Thanks for the introduction. How come you just introduced yourself 5 days ago? i thought this one was supposed to be a first entry, hahaha! Anyhoo, I enjoyed reading through it. I was born exactly 2 days after your brother James III was born, in the same year.
