Thirteen Picture Books I Love
Some of my favorite books are picture books written for children. In honor of my niece, Sabrina, a life long reader at not quite three years old, I present thirteen of my personal favorite picture books.
Notes: with the exception of my beloved Mooch, these books are loved nearly equally. I love Mooch the most.
Also, numbers 9 and 10 are children's books I meet in my adult life.
Links will lead you to the book's listing. Pick up a copy for a child you love (our for yourself):
1. MOOCH THE MESSY by Marjorie Weinman Sharmat

2. Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak

3. Frog and Toad Are Friends by Arnold Lobel

4. A Kiss for Little Bear
by Else Holmelund Minarik and Maurice Sendak

5. Mrs. Pigs Bulk Buy
by Mary Rayne

6. Hide and Seek: with Lovable, Furry Old Grover by Jon Stone and Michael Smollin

7. Grover and the Everything in the Whole Wide World Museum
by Norman Stiles, Daniel Wilcox, and Joe Mathieu

8. Busy, Busy Town
by Richard Scarry

9. If You Give a Pig a Pancake
by Laura Numeroff and Felicia Bond

10. Bear Snores On

11. Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile by Bernard Waber

12. The Butter Battle Book by Dr. Seuss

whoa... the second I saw those grover book covers, you brought me back to one of my childhood favorites, the MONSTER at the end of this book [starring "lovable, furry old grover"]!
and yes, venting is gooooood. venting keeps us sane. so do cats.

I love the Monster at the end of this book, too. Grover is, by far, my favorite Seaseme Street resident. Picking which two of his "novels" was so hard.

Nothing serves kids better than being read to, as we all know. I'm sure they'll look back as fondly as I do.

I know what you mean. My feelings about each of these books define the phrase "warm and fuzzy."

Thanks. I'm only 27 but some of my books belonged to my Aunt and Uncle, my mom's baby sister and brother. My Aunt is 37 this year, so that's just the right era for your little one's.
