Is Winter Over Yet?

Waiting for Spring is one of my least favorite times of year. From February on, I am ready for mild temps. I look forward to the first day I notice green returning to the trees.

After four winters on the shores of Lake Erie, I understand how mild Missouri winters are compared to the traditional winter. You know, the type of winter wonderland depicted in comic strips that lasts from December until March?

I'm not sure where Calvin and Hobbes lived, except that we can rule out anywhere on the Great Lakes. I never remember a blizzard, only the idyllic snow made for snowmen and sledding. For those who have never experienced Lake Effect Snow, can I just say seven or eight feet overnight is not uncommon. It snows sideways.

This is our third winter in Farmington, MO. I find that ice is more common than snow. It's more scary for drivers and more destructive than a foot or two of the fluffy stuff.

Within the last two weeks, we have had a day with highs in the 70's, but also our first real snow of the season. It was around six inches. Today we hovered around freezing.

More than early winter, now I am in the mood to hibernate until spring. I am antsy, feeling like I want something just out of reach. A vacation would fit the bill. We are only a few hours drive from good deals on Branson rentals, but the weather would be no more conducive to sitting outside with a cup of coffee in the morning than right in Farmington.

Maybe in my next life, I'll be a bear....

Well your not the only one wishing it was spring already
since i've moved to eastern washington the last 2 years have been the worse 2 winters in the last 20 years (enough snow to chock a horse!) The last 2 weeks have really sucked, the pass to get to western Washington has been closed (and alot of restaurants and business are running out of supplys).
I can say, i am looking forward to being done with school and moving back to western washington, where 2 inchs of snow the whole winter is considered a harse winter. And if i never live anywhere that gets below 30 again in my life, i shall now cry LOL.
Heres to April, may it get here really quick!

At least you have cute stuff for your winter wardrobe, right? I love scarves. And boots go without saying

Down here in Atlanta, they shut the town down when it snows. Milk, eggs, and other products are gone off of the shelf with in a matter of hours at the first sight of snow.

I did enjoy the snow that we got this year though. The only reason that I wish spring would get here is to go camping. That is about the only reason. The festivals will start up soon though and that means camping and everything for all.

Camping? Wow. I'm so not the outdoor type. A few hours in the park are plenty. Hope you have a wireless connection.
