Sex, Lies, and Online Dating by Rachel Gibson

A title so sensational my copy is covered with a paper bag so I can read it at work. Lucky for me, the first time I read Sex, Lies, and Online Dating one of my teammates brought colorful little paper bags of candy for everyone on the team. My blush worthy copy is covered in pink paper.
I was itching for a really good romance novel recently, so I've read it twice in a few months. The need was fueled by the not so fun novel I'd just read.
Why do I love Sex, Lies, Online Dating?
Lucy writes crime novels. She is researching her latest book about a female serial killer who meets her victims in dating chat rooms.
Quinn is a cop. He is looking for a female serial killer who target men who meet women in chat rooms.
Deep into the novel, Lucy looks good for the killings. Still, Quinn is dying to kiss her everywhere, and more, despite the risk.
The effect of joining a steaming romance with a convincing police drama is the kind of book I live to read.
The key for the reader is knowing that Lucy didn't do it, and Quinn is not a plumber. We know there is a killer loose using methods frighteningly close to the plot of Lucy's novel.
Of the three Gibson novels about a group of Boise writers who are great friends published so far, Sex, Lies, and Online Dating is my favorite. That is saying something when I am very impressed with each. The others are I'm In No Mood for Love, about the romance writer, and Tangled Up in You, about the true crime writer. The fourth book, Not Another Bad Date, is due out in May, featuring the fantasy writer in the group. The countdown begins.
