Baby Goats at Grant's Farm

Yesterday, I spend the day at Grant's Farm with Kate and her three year old Sabrina. It was my first visit to the historic St. Louis attraction. Only in St. Louis would schools take field trips to a park proudly owned and operated by Anheuser-Busch. Like the St Louis Zoo, admission is free. You just pay parking and a beautiful day is yours to enjoy.
One of the must-do activities at Grant's Farm is feeding the baby goats. Kate had told Sabrina that's what we were going to do. Like any kid, she loves cute little animals. When I saw the T-shirt in the gift shop that read "I survived feeding the goats at Grant's Farm" I thought it was a joke. A few minutes later, we were in the pen with several dozen baby goats.
Kate had two baby bottles of milk sold for a dollar each. I had fresh batteries in my camera to capture Sabrina feeding cute barnyard babies.
Two steps beyond the entrance standing in a swarm of knee high goats, I began to understand the t-shirt was not a joke. I didn't even have any food, but tiny goats gathered around me anyway.
They are small, but strong and stubborn in a way only a hungry babies can be. I tried to concentrate on taking pictures. All I could think was how embarrassing it was to be bullied by tiny barnyard critters to the point of contemplating buying a burial policy. Laugh if you will, but tiny hoofs and teeth plus repeated head butts are intimidating in the moment.
I decided I do not want to be reincarnated as mama goat, yet I will certainly go back to feed Grant's Farm baby goats again.

How cute! I love these pictures!

The ones with my niece were even cuter. I felt bad trying to get shots of the goats "eating" her, but they are so freaking adorable.

This is a cute story--love the little goats. They are so cute! It reminded me of when Gerard and I were on our honeymoon and went to a deer park. As soon as we stepped in the corral with the bag of food, all the deer came running at us! I shouted, Gerard, what are we going to do? We gave them the food.

My dad once feed a deer red licorice out of a car window at Olympic National Park. Our family still jokes the deer has been hassling visitors for candy ever since.

Hello, I am from Webster Groves, MO. I have been going to Grant's Farm since I was a child. I used to take my daughter and her friends when they were little. The baby goats were their favorites too!
I really enjoyed your blog and I hope to return.

Thank you for your kindness.
We've lived in Missouri for 2 1/2 years. We are about 40 minutes from St Louis. I love how much the city has to offer.
