Quest for Indiana

I jinxed us out of getting our Dr. Jones fix last night. I posted in anticipation of seeing the midnight showing of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Like speaking a wish aloud, it was ruin.

In classic Kate & Tina style, we had a silly misadventure instead.

We'd wisely checked to make sure the theater in Festus, a 30 minute drive, had a midnight show. Googled it. Verified.

I attempted to call to make sure there were tickets left. We talked about how surprised we are that so few people seem excited for the movie. Still, it's a long way to drive to be told the show is sold out. The office was closed. Weird, but we did not suspect an issue. Clearly, they don't answer the phone after 10 PM.

The internet said there was a showing
, so it must be true.

Once in Festus, we drove down three different streets and back to the highway before finding the theater. I'd never been to it and Kate hadn't been in years. To get to the theater, you have to drive up a side street, then through a parking lot. You can't see it from the road.

We patted ourselves on the back for finding the place with a half hour to spare. Then turned the corner into an empty parking lot.

But, friends, I am writing that you may not suffer as we have. No books will provide the wisdom learned from experience. Learn from our mistakes:

It is vital to look at the date when checking movie listings online.

Seriously, at 10:45 PM local time the online movie listings should reflect the current date, not the next business day. I can not overstate my indignation, even if we did laugh and laugh over our error.

We'll try again Saturday night...

That's disappointing. I've been looking forward to the new Indiana movie too. At least you had a little fun out with a friend. Hope you went for a nice coffee before the drive home again.

We drove through Taco Bell still giggling. I bet they thought we were drunk. Most suprising was the car in front of us. They spent $36 at Taco Bell - talk about hungry. It was, like, five bags of food.

Even though I was disappointed, the upside is the story. Got to have blog fodder.

I have done the exact same thing. We also had to drive a half hour to the theater, but that is because we live in the middle of nowhere.

Anyway we got there and the showing was for 12 pm the next day not 12 am.

I haven't been to the movies in daylight hours in a good ten years. It wouldn't dawn on me that they meant noon either.

Hope you got to see it after all. I just got back from it today. It was awesome! My kids even liked it. It brought back a lot of memories, if you know what I mean.

I was not disappointed. I can't remember ever being this excited about a movie, especally to have it be everything I hoped.

I would have gone myself if I'd had to, but I went with Kate and her mom.  All three of us are huge Indy fans, so it was special to share the experience. If we'd had my mom with it, it would have been perfect.

Oh no! That sounds like something I would do!
We did get to see the movie yesterday and I loved it!

I say, toss Temple of Doom and we have ourselves a trilogy!

My students asked me if I'd seen it--it hasn't even been on my radar. I guess I'm too preoccupied with the house. You'll have to do a review!

I'll be posting a small, non-spoiler review later today. I had to wait until I'd gotten to talk to my mom about it. Some conversations have to be had in family before they get blogged.
