Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: Love It
Finally, I got to see Indy on Saturday night. I went to the theater with Kate and her mom, Liz. They are both huge fans. In fact, it was Liz's Christmas present VHS copies of the original three Kate and I watched a million times.
I had to wait until I talked to my mom about it before reporting my feelings to the blogosphere. She lives too far away to go to the movies with, then sit out on patio furniture discussing the details. I almost called her when I got home from the movie, but I thought waking a person just to say, "Oh my God, oh my God, it was so awesome" wouldn't be right.
Mom said she expected to be disappointed. She and Dad see huge numbers of movies and have a DVD collection to rival Blockbuster. Many times she has been let down with sequels. She loved it. I knew she would even as I was watching the movie.
I believe spoilers are evil, so I'm not telling anything about the film. Isn't it enough to say, it was amazing. It does a wonderful job of standing on it's own two feet, while giving fans plenty of "classic" Indy moments. If I have to tell you there is a snake bit and that Indy almost looses his hat, please watch Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade before going to see Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Temple of Doom is optional.
I'm only disappointed to not be watching the movies over and over until I've had my fill.
As with any true blockbuster Hollywood movie, tie-in products are practically required. I got a Kid's Meal at Burger King for the toy today. I love the Lego play sets, especally the one with both tiny Dr. Jones Senior and Junior on the motorcycle from Last Crusade
The Game of Life Indiana Jones is adorable and beats Monopoly since I like playing the game.
My very favorite item is Mr. Potato Head Indiana Jones Taters of the Lost Ark, Idaho Jones Spud. I'm so getting one.
Note the lopsided smile. *sigh*

I love Mr. Potato Head almost as much as I loved the movie! It was so much fun (except for the ants!).

I had my eyes covered through most of the ants. Seriously gross.

Target was cleaned out of them yesterday. Those are going to be the big collectors item, I'm sure.
