Hot Water's Return, Not Without "What The Heck?" Moment

I am happy to report our water heater is in working order as of Monday around 5:30 pm. As I blogged, Chris discovered we were without hot water around 3 pm Saturday.

The
maintenance guy fixed it within a few minutes, but will be checking back at some point. Some part may need replacement in the long term. For now, as long as I don't have to visit a friend or check into laughlin hotels to shower, I'm a happy camper.

Here is the frustration: the complex manager who miraculously answered her cell phone on Sunday, told the maintenance guy our air conditioner was broken.

We are lucky enough to have central air. In South East Missouri, it is not as much of a luxury as you'd think. From April to October, it's freaking hot and humid. Plus, we have no major body of water to give breeze.

Much of the spring and early summer months the maintenance guy spends repairing and replacing the big AC units at the back of the buildings. It was what the manager told me he was doing when I talked to her on Monday at 10 am, then at 3:15 pm.

At that point, Chris decided to track down the maintenance guy to make sure he'd been told about our problem. We have a history of problems with the message not getting to him. It only took took two years to get a replacement screen.

The maintenance guy was at our door within twenty minutes. We were down the line for AC repair/replace, but a water heater issue is higher on the list.

Mistakes are one thing. I am not cold hearted. I left a message on the office number on Saturday, on her cell phone Saturday, talked to her Sunday, talked to her Monday morning, Chris talked to her Monday morning, I talked to her Monday afternoon. That's seven times.

Each contact, we said "our hot water heater is broken." How about writing it down?

And they wonder why I insist on a receipt when I pay the rent.

Aah, glad to know! So now you can take a hot shower. Life's little pleasure...don't know how important it is until we lose it. At least for me recently! That's really annoying about the few last part. Seems like the management is messy and disorganized. Not good. =( Anyhoo, off you go to your overdue shower. It's smelling all the way to Aussie land now. Hahaha.

I wasn't too smelly. As weird as it seems, I went to my best friend's house to shower on Monday. It feels so weird, but I couldn't have made it to Monday with "emergency" methods. Two wash cloths and cold water did the job the rest of the time.
