Morning Person, Week 2, Day 1 & 2

I cannot say I have enjoyed waking up at 6 am yesterday and today. I cannot say I enjoyed getting up at 8:30 on my old shift. I am to the point where 6 am isn't more painful than 8:30 am.

Maybe it's simply not that I am not a morning person, it is more that I dislike waking up to an alarm in order to hustle out the door. I admit, no one likes this part of the work-a-day world. I just find I notice it much more now that I have a job where I don't mind being at work once I get there.

For the last two weeks, I've been away from the phone more than not. I've gotten to work with a new hire class during their first two weeks taking phone calls. Even with classroom training, the supportive environment with one helper to four newbies is essential for success. I'm sure all call centers have similar programs.

The irony is they draft senior people like me who meet statistical goals and have good attendance. People who have been sitting at a computer, tethered by headsets with a foot of cord. I loved doing the job. Watching the group grow in skill and confidence is pretty darn cool. From the first day to today, just the questions they asked got much more advanced. Today I found most questions were statements followed by "is that right?"

Maybe as a reward, the company should spring for foot massages, if not St. John villa rentals, for those of us running around to answer those questions.

I know, I'm griping. I do hope to parlay the running around at work into a good habit. Chris and I love to take walks together at our local parks. We both need the activity. For me, it's all about getting started. I'll be going from eight hours of running today to an hour at the park tomorrow. Piece of cake.

For the record, I've noticed that you are getting up and functioning as well as you were getting up two and a half hours later before. I think that the new schedule is good for both of us, since it gives us a lot more time to get out and enjoy the day instead of coming home, eating, and crashing out.
Looking forward to going to the park, I definitely need to get out and enjoy the fresh air.

It's not a bad idea to set your thoughts to your spouse down in their blog comments

If we can get my belly used to dinner time, I'll be in pretty good shape.

If you find a company that gives free foot massages, let me know. I will rush to apply.

I am a big morning person. I get up at 5 a.m. EVERY DAY to feed my cats. I don't like to have to rush in the morning and want to have time to check me email before heading off to work. On Saturdays, I do usually go back to bed for awhile.

Wow! I've tried to set my alarm for the workday time on my days off, but I always go back to bed as soon as I shut off the alarm.

When we first got cats, Chris and I both worked crazy hours, different day to day and week to week. We made the decision to free feed dry food because we couldn't count on being home. They get canned or tuna as treats. If we tried to change now, it wouldn't be pretty. They outnumber us.
