I Don't Want to Be A Mama Goat In My Next Life

I'm cheating a little in this week's Self Portrait Sunday. One of the rules of the game from Cass herself is that the photo should be taken during the previous week. This one was taken at Grant's Farm a few weeks ago.

I posted baby goat pictures a right after I'd gone with Kate and three year old Sabrina. I'd even joked about the funny t shirts they sell at the gift shop. They say "I survived feeding the baby goats at Grant's Farm." Let me tell ya, not a joke.

I don't know that I'd want to do it every day, but I did have fun with the aggressive little guys.

My little niece was eye level with most of the goats. She wanted Mommy to feed them so she could pet them. After we'd fed them once, I'd realized I hadn't gotten any pictures of the goats eating her shirt. When we went again, I was focused on getting the shot. They turned out so cute, but also a little cruel to stand there while they nibbled her.

Luckily, she loved the whole day and is still taking about it.

Step away from the milk bottle and nobody gets hurt.

That's a funny pic. You kept your calm, and did it all ith a smile. You should be commended.

The goats are even more wild if you drop the bottle. It doesn't give them milk unless propped up by a loving hand.

I credit my nine years working with the public with my calm. Hungry goats out to eat my cloths have nothing on back to school shoppers during the seven years I worked for Payless Shoe.

Oh My!! I haven't been to Grants Farm in 20+ years. That was always one of my favorite places to go in the summer. My parents would take the 7 of us and we'd meet up with other families and make a grand day of it......what a great memory.

Thank you for sharing your memory. That is so cool.

One thing I love about St Louis is that taking seven kids out isn't impossible. With Grant's Farm, and so many other attractions, there are still no admission fees. Pay to park and enjoy the day.

How sweet -- one goat cuddles up while the other rifles through your bag.

I remember being knocked down more than once by the baby goats at Grant's Farm. They'd rush me and I'd scream and drop whatever food I was offering them.

That reminds me of the petting zoo at the Renaissance Faire. I remember going to one in Houston TX one year and I have been to the one in GA a few times.

"Petting Zoo" is being politically correct as far as I'm thinking. As my best friend says about Grant's Farm, it's all about you paying to feed there animals. Needless to say, it's great fun for us city folks.

Feeding goats, pretty cool - being a goat, not nearly as fun! :0
