Four Foods on Friday 48
Every Friday, Val posts four mouth watering questions. Come play along for Four Foods on Friday 48.
#1. Melon. What’s your favorite kind?
Watermelon. Getting them from a farmer's market has ruined me for supermarket melons. I love to hack it in half and eat it with a fork.
#2. Orange citrus. What’s your favorite - oranges, nectarines, navel oranges, tangerines, etc.
Clementines. They are a variety of Mandarin orange. With the thin peel of a tangerine, yet much sweeter, what's not to love?
#3. Oreos. What kind is your favorite? (Don’t eat Oreos? What about olives?)
Original Oreos. I like the Golden Oreos, but I crave the real thing.
#4. Pot pie. Share a recipe. (No pot pie recipe? What about a casserole or some other hot meal you bake?)
I've never made pot pie. My recipe is from the fine folks at Kraft Foods. They call it Beef 'n Macaroni Bake. It's made with Kraft Deluxe Macaroni & Cheese. It's easy to make, great comfort food, and leftovers are tasty. Best of all, no need to save it on fancy tape drives; they print the recipe right on the box.

(Kraft's food photography is better than mine. Sue me.)

LOL My picture of my pot pie is a lot prettier than the ones that come out of my oven.

My husband and I registered a domain for a food/cooking blog about a year ago. We put the blog together, but haven't done much more. With our tiny kitchen with no windows it's so hard to get good pictures. Someday, I'll have a real kitchen.

Slice up a nice loaf of bread and you've got a perfect family meal.

Eating watermelon with a fork, now that's creative

Can't take credit for that one. Mom and I used to share a half watermelon. Now I get it all to myself.

I think that anything from the farmer's market has got to be better than what we get in the store! There's nothing like the taste of fresh (not supermarket, trucked for days) fruit!

For sure. I never got the big obsession with fresh strawberries until I had the home grown type.
I did better when we lived in Western New York. We lived on a stretch of Route 20 with five or six farm stands in ten miles. Around here, you have to either know somebody or hit the farmer's market at set times.

As I was looking at the picture of the casserole (which I thought looked delicious), my youngest went "Ew, weird!" So I guess I won't be making it for my family!

Call me old fashioned, but I have a notebook of the spiral variety I jot recipes down in.
