Self Portrait Sunday

Everyone notices my shiny green blouse. I love the color despite the Leprechaun jokes. I guess it's inevitable when you're 4'8" tall and wearing Kelly green.
No surprise, I spent today with Kate. Sundays during the football season, Chris is otherwise occupied. Yes, I'm a football widow. It is the one time Chris is allowed to break our household rule of not monopolizing both the TV and the computer.
So I went to St. Louis with Kate and her mom, Liz. Kate need to find a blouse to go with a skirt she bought earlier in the week. She is working on a high school teacher wardrobe in preparation to student teach in January. The skirt was a sticky one to match, but it looked like a million bucks on Kate. Finding the right combo of color, style and fits great isn't easy. The fabric was so awesome, I have to take a picture to share:
Doesn't it look like suede? It's not. In fact, it's about the weight of silk. In the end, we found both a chocolate brown sweater and one in pumpkin. I'll tell ya, I find it so much more fun to shop for clothes for Kate then shopping for myself. Less pressure, or something. More playing dress-up.
After tough shopping, we had lunch at The Cheesecake Factory. The rule when you drive an hour to go to the city is to only eat out places we don't have here in Farmington. We have tons of fast food places, but mid priced restaurants not so much.
I'd had cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory before, but never an actual meal. They have the type of menu that makes me crazy with choices. From pasta to burgers and sandwiches, from fish to Mexican recipes. I do try to break out of my usual items. I picked The Navajo sandwich, grilled chicken on fry bread with tomato, onions and avocado. It was fabulous, but huge.
Too huge to leave room for cheesecake and too fair from home for a doggie bag. Kate and Liz had the same problem, so I'd advise sharing meals to save room for dessert. I know we will next time. It does say something about the food that a dessert-first person like myself didn't feel deprived with just the savory part of the meal.
Now it's time to go visit Cass and the other Sunday Self Portrait participants.

That's the perfect shade of green for your coloring. Very sexy blouse, too.
Try the parmesan chicken next tiem you go to Cheescake Factory. It's to die for! I always hav eto bring my cheescake home, even when I only eat half of the meal and bring the rest home. Maybe you should carry an ice chest in the car next time you go so you can keep the cheesecake chilled until you get home?

Thanks. I have to be very careful to not wear colors that wash me out.
An ice chest is a brilliant idea.

I know what you mean about clothes shopping. I hate shopping for myself lately.
