Thanksgiving: Four Foods on Friday

Happy Friday, Blog-a-roos! Val has presented a Thanksgiving themed FFOF for our enjoyment.

Before I get started, let me explain Thanksgiving in our house. Namely the fact that I don't cook it. If it were mine to deal with, I would never cook a whole Turkey and fixings for two (count 'em, two) people.

My husband, however, loves to cook. For him, it's not a holiday without a traditional home cooked meal. I have no problem with pitching in with details, then eating the outcome. Below is our turkey from last year. It was yummy.

#1. Stuffing. Boxed or from scratch?

For everyday meals of pork chops, boxed Stove Top is just fine. For Thanksgiving, Chris starts with store bought stuffing mix then makes it amazing. Can I just say, bacon?  Chris could easily apply for jobs in Las Vegas restaurants with his stuffing as a reference.

#2. If you were served the perfect Thanksgiving dinner what would it be?

Wouldn't be so much about the food. After spending the last three holiday seasons just the two of us, it would be all about who else was sitting at the table. We both miss my family and his family.

#3. What’s your favorite Thanksgiving leftover?

Call them sweet potatoes. Call them yams. I don't care. Just heat one up in the microwave with some butter.

#4. Share a recipe using turkey.

Chris and I (okay mostly Chris) are going to attempt making turkey soup. Our first time out was not edible. Cook those noodles too long and the whole thing tastes like raw floor.

So, I'll keep it simple. My left over turkey sandwich of choice:

On nice soft bread, a healthy dose of Miracle Whip, then turkey and stuffing. The best part is some cranberry sauce between the turkey and stuffing. I could skip the main meal in favor of this sandwich.

Happy Thanksgiving!
